Digital Slide Evaluation Rules

For 2008 there will be two categories for entries: Pictorial Digital Slides and Altered Reality Digital Slides. Members may enter up to three slides in the Pictorial Category. The Pictorial Slide category will consist of images that are reality based. These images may be manipulated as much as one desires but they must end up as something that one would or could see in real life. If an image could not have existed in real life then the slide must be entered into the Altered Reality category. Two slides may be entered in the Altered Reality category.  Altered Reality images may be as creative as one desires and this creativity and imagination will be positively scored in this category. Again, any image entered into any other slide evaluation may not be entered into the Pictorial Digital Evaluation.  However, creating a new Altered Reality image from previously entered images is acceptable. First, Second and Third Place awards will be given in each category.

The digital images should be formatted such that the final pixel dimensions are no wider than 1400 nor taller than 1050. The final JPEG file size should be between 500-550 KB.  The sRGB color space is preferred for projection.  The deadline for entries will be 5 PM on the Thursday prior to the Digital Evaluation/Critique. The maker should note which category (pictorial or altered reality) they wish the images are to be entered. Failing to note the category will result in the First VP assigning a category. If there is any question whether the slide is Pictorial or Altered Reality, the decision of the VP will be final. The images can be emailed (preferred method) or left on disposable media in the box on the Digi Lab wall prior to the deadline.

A year end Digital Slide evaluation will also be held on the third Saturday in November and awards will be given out at the annual Holiday Dinner. The number and type of entries will be determined and announced well before the November evaluation

All slides entered into each evaluation must have originated from a photographic image, either from a regular or digital camera.  Photographs of art work are not permitted in any slide evaluation
